The Grand Noble hotel in Xian

The Grand Noble hotel in XianWe only spent one night at the Grand Noble and didn’t really get to experience all it had to offer. It was a smart, five star hotel with a well groomed staff and luxury looking cafes and restaurants plus western sounding a bar called Gordons. There is a small shop and a travel agent on the ground floor.

The rooms were a good side and, according to Callum, ‘well stocked with freebies’. They even had iPod chargers in each room although we could not get them to work. There was free wifi in the rooms and ethernet cables in the rooms. The air conditioning was excellent (cool, adjustable and quiet) and the curtains were amazingly opaque, completely blocking out the morning sun.

The view from the rooms we were in was less attractive with several grey bricked, rundown apartment blocks. This didn’t bother us but it was a reminder that not everyone in China lives in new, comfortable accommodation despite the obvious building efforts throughout the city.

We only ate breakfast in the Grand Noble so I can’t comment on the restaurant but the breakfast was good quality with a wide choice.
